It is wisteria.

Congrats on the quick sale and the new house! Show us pictures of the new vine when it's flowering. I've never seen wisteria in person, I don't think!

Oh no! We have 2 wisteria's here at the current house that have never bloomed! I didn't even know what the flower bud looked like!LOL I will have to think real hard about keeping it. The 2 we have are monsters. They have broken all cross supports on the arbor. I noticed that this one at the new house is climbing under the soffit boards. Not good!

P.S. Thanks for the quick id, natvtxn and the congrats on the new house, lindsey!

I love to see wisteria in other people's yards, but I know it can prove to be a 'handful'. I'm not saying it's rampant, but a long-time gardener once (correctly) observed, "One day it's tapping at the window, and the next day it's on the couch watching TV with you!" &:~)

If a Wisteria gets to where it isn't blooming you need to "Root Prune" and it'll start blooming again..take your shovel and go out about 3 feet and just dig in a circle all around..this will sever the roots..you'll be surprised of the vigor you'll see...Jeanne

After it blooms, move it away from the house. My SIL keeps her's pruned like a shrub/bush out in the middle of her yard. That way it has nothing to cling to.
As soon as it grows tendrils, she cuts them off.

I have one like that, Kathy, bursting into bloom now. I also have one that is a climber AWAY from the house, but even then it requires a lot of keeping it in tow. I have it amidst my Lady Banks (yellow) roses, and they put on quite a show together.

Carrie that must be drop dead gorgeous, can you show us a picture or 2 ??? Pretty Please? Bev
