Howdy Wormherders!

I need some advice if you don't mind.

Last month I purchased a 5 Tier "Worm Factory" and set it up as per directions. I added 2 lbs of worms on the 3rd of this month. About a week ago I noticed that the bulk of beding and food had shrunk by 1/2. I added some wet shreaded paper along with the regular food stuffs they like. I noticed that the paper was drying out around the edges of the lid, so I spritz it now and then. I also lifted up the single layer that I have processing at the moment. There were quite a few worms in the catch tray with more coming through the screen. Is that normal? Or am I doing something wrong? Should I scoop them up and add them to the top of my active layer? Or just leave them be?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated by me an my heard.
