any chance of pictures?

Sorry I haven't a clue how to post photos. I'm not sure they would do much good as I needed a pretty powerful magnifying glass to examine the flowers. The only additional info I can relate is the single stemmed plant is only 3" tall ( due to mowing height?). The leaves are opposite; the largest 1/2" long. The flowers are clustered at the top 3/4", and except for the terminal flower, they are slightly stalked arising from leaf axils.

I realize it's difficult to ID a plant just from a description but was hoping someone might recognize it if it's a common lawn pest.

What color are the flowers? How large are they? How many petals? To what garden flower would you compare them, shape-wise?

What shape are the leaves?

There are 4 petals with one smaller than the other 3. The flowers are white and exhibit purple streaking. From what I've been able to find out it's some species of "Veronica" (speedwell). It's spread throughout the lawn - more numerous than chickweed.
In one small wet area of the "lawn" birdseye speedwell covers nearly 100% of the area.
