Maybe false queen anne's lace/bishop's weed?

Thank you! I googled it and it is bishop's weed, also known as goutweed. Ugh. It is invasive and hard to kill, but found a blog with some good ideas...going to try mowing, cider vinegar, and covering it up with mulch to start. Thanks again.

Ugh is right, sorry. If you are able to smother it, I'd use something under the mulch, like several layers of cardboard. It will just grow through mulch.

I tried eradicating from my back bed last summer by covering with several sections of newspaper, at least 4 layers cardboard and a few inches of mulch (after carefully digging and sifting all roots I could find down to a foot). Some is coming up where the cardboard overlaps and it is trying to get into the lawn but so far it has been relatively well controlled. However it took me almost all summer to get through one 7 x 30 foot bed. I sacrificed all perennials in the bed. On another huge bed (12 by 30) it made me sick to think of digging, so I doused it twice with round up this Spring (2 weeks between applications) and have just trimmed it down with a string trimmer. I'm going to wait a week til it springs back up and hit it with roundup again. Depending on how persistent it is after that, I may then try the newspaper and mulch thing. That's frustrating because it puts the bed off limits for 2 years while the goutweed dies and you need some pile of mulch to cover all the newspaper and cardboard, but it may still be better than digging. Some people in my area get a landscaper to excavate out all their topsoil to 18 inches to get rid of goutweed. Some other people dry out the soil (fry it) on their driveway.

Also if you have any strays, dig them out (deep), trying to get all the roots!
