Its edible and tastes like cucumber. Sound like a good addition to your mesclun to me. I managed to almost wipe out my purslane "weed" problem in my gardens and now I have to order seed and plant it.

Its a great source of Omega 3 fatty acid, tastes good and is healthy for you.

I had no idea purslane was ediable or even a weed for that matter. I found out the other day when I was at a pest control co. that they were weeds! And me and David look for them at garden centers everywhere every year! :) i got a few that wintered over in pots this year. We love them. (for the flowers.. for growing) Karen

In any planting bed with bare soil purslane can be a major problem because it can and will grow from any wee bit of the plant left in contact with the soil as well as seed. If that same garden bed is well mulched you will not see purslane, or chickweed, growing there.
