In my area, coastal MA. I see a fox den every day..2 pups inside..so in my area, the pups are here...It may have been a food delivery...then again..Mom needs to eat more as she is taking care of the den..In my area, I see the fox out at different times of day or evening..some believe this indicates a sick animal..may not be true as mom only leaves the pups when she feels they will be safe...

I've had foxes come and eat my bird seed...they have to compete with the coyote here for small animals as their habitat declines...I live in a beach community with some woodland area left, they will hunt the beach and set up house in the woods..(or under a cottage)

If she does have pups..you will here them (and when they are old enough) vocalize when they feel "distressed"..it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up 1st time I heard it..you can also google it to hear it..google something like "fox cries"

My fox made another appearance one morning during the week - again carrying something small and furry, and heading back into the woods behind our house. I did some googling and confirmed that it is pup time and that the males bring home food to the den. I'll be keeping an ear open for those pups!

I have a friend who is into photography and who has an interest in wildlife, so she came over early today and we camped out in the back porch with breakfast and cameras in hand. The fox didn't show, but she got some other lovely photos.

We have a fox that lives in a den on our property (three acres) and one day the fox came into our immediate back yard for a drink from our pond. We have five cats who mostly stay indoors but were out in back that day. I opened the back door once I spotted the fox in fear it may attack the cats but before I realized what was going on the cats formed a pack like dogs and chased it from the yard. It was incredible to watch and very funny.

One more reason to keep cats inside! Won't be funny when you see a fox carrying one of them off and they WILL!
