#1 - smell it - garlic mustard? Alliaria petiolata
#2 - I'd guess pokeweed. Phytolacca

Both come from birds (dropping seeds.)

#1 is not garlic mustard, thankfully. I know that plant well since we control it heavily where I work.

#2 is Honeysuckle, Lonicera sp.

Your first plant is Geum canadense, White Avens. Compare the leaves on your seedlings with the lower example of leaves at the link.

Jeanne, thank you so much! That also solved the question of what that crazy plant was growing next to the low groundcover... it was an adult White Avens plant. Much appreciated! Thanks tyrlych also for the honeysuckle ID. Should have known. I killed some off that was taking over my lilac bush, but some must have seeded in the years it grew there before I moved in and tackled it.
