Wow that's it, thank you! Now that I know it attracts birds I just might let it go. It's in a place I don't need to use, it is invasive so Ill have to keep an eye on it.We got the dirt from a farmer in Canastota, NY. I think it carried more weed than manure.

Manure carries weed seeds.

Teasels have been becoming highly invasive in my area. Some areas of the road side are just filled with them. This is the first year that it appears the state tried spraying them. They're droopy and browning, but it's so late that I think they're probably still going to manage to seed.

I always think if I had time (which, having to work, I don't :P), I'd like to do a photography project that concentrates on non-native invasives. The shots would emphasize the spreading or destructive nature (invasive animals and birds would be on the list). Teasel is one of the shots I see in my head, one seedhead in the front and a spread of the mass of the field of teasel behind it visible.
