Absolutely yes. It's a terrific way to use bacon grease, but be sure that you use it in small amounts in warm climates.

And I would make sure it's unsalted bacon.

And I believe the PB needs to unsalted also.

Since bacon is a brined meat I doubt you will ever find unsalted bacon except for what is sold as fresh fatback. You can remove much of the salt by putting in a pan of water and heating. Stir while melting. This will disolve some of the salt in the rendered grease into the water. Let the solution set in a cool place to firm the fat. Remove the fat cake that should form on the top and throw away the water. This can be repeated several times to remove additional salt.

If your bacon fat is fresh you can dice up potatoes and cook in the water. This is a method that is used by cooks to reduce oversalted dishes. If the bacon fat is fresh the potatoes can be eaten or thrown away. Only eat if the bacon fat is VERY fresh.

I wouldn't worry about the salt...in our area, flocks of winter finches are often seen gathered on roadsides to get at the salt used for de-icing the road surface...the only way it's fatal to them is when they fly into the path of oncoming vehicles.

The Racoons take off with my suet feeders.. I try to remember to bring them in at night cause if i don't those kooky Coons love them. :-)

Kinrad,what kind of bird is that? I'm in coastal South Carolina, and saw one of these guys climbing up my pine tree. A woodpecker of sorts?
