For sheer beefstake production it's hard to beat Big Beef.

I agree with Big Beef, but this year the new Brupee's Portherhouse has been the winner with lots of big tomatoes. The flavor has improved on those coming from my garden since the highly unusual and incessant rain stopped.

C. P. does well, Ugly has done well but this certainly has not been a typical year to be able to evaluate and judge things here.

My PH are very productive too. And BIG. I plan on taking some pics maybe tomorrow as I waiting for a few to get nice and ripe. The ones I tried so far have a nice but not excellent taste. Not in the same class taste wise with the big pinks like Brandywine, Pruden's Purple and Marianna's Peace. Not as good either as my big reds like Big Zac and NAR. But a decent tasting tomato nonetheless.

Burpee's best creation IMO is BrandyBoy. That's a real winner for me. I like big tomatoes that when sliced fill out a sandwich nicely. And I'm a big Brandywine fan so BrandyBoy is the next best thing....:)

Of the non-hybrid varieties, I'd say that Chapman, Brandywine OTV and Zogola have all been very productive red beefsteaks. Chapman is really a terrific tomato, so give that one a shot if you have room.

I've never grown a regular pink Brandywine that I would call productive, so I'm a little jealous that you've got one. Instead, I grow Aunt Ginny's Purple, Pruden's Purple and Tidwell German. AGP is a personal favorite, with very good production over a long season of great tasting Brandywine-like tomatoes. PP is an EXTREMELY productive plant for me, and the tomatoes are pretty good as well, although I prefer Brandywine and Aunt Ginny's Purple. Tidwell German churns out slightly rounder tomatoes than the others I've mentioned, but it also gives me a really nice crop of flavorful and blemish free tomatoes.

Most productive beefsteak?

Black from Tula ... grow it, live it, love it ...
an amazing tomato ... will def. be in my retirement garden ...

A few years back I grew a variety called German Head. It produced many pink beefsteaks with great flavor.

Agree with the Brandy Boys - great production and a good size and taste. But my BIG winner this year has been the Giant Belgiums. Slabs of meaty tomatoes with a great taste and few seeds. Every one of them so far have been well over a pound with several close to 2 lb.

Aunt Ginny's Purple is productive and very good flavor.

Giant Belgium are one of my top 5 favorite tomatoes with wonderful sweetness and absolutely delectable, thanks for the photo Dave. :)

This year it's Brandywine and Rostova. I think my good luck with the former is due in large measure to the relatively cool summer we've had so far. I've picked about twenty ripe tomatoes off the single Brandywine I grew this year, and there are at least ten more that are about to ripen. The Rostova is full of green toms that will ripen in the next month.

That Big Beef is amazing...on my indoor CP I only get 2 set per truss and even then half the ones that set don't even grow beyond bead size.
