You indicate you want to add on for a growing family. What do you wish to add - larger family room, bedrooms, bathrooms??? What is on the downstairs level of the home? Can you provide pictures of the house from the back as well. thanks.

If that's a picture of your house it looks pretty big already. What's downstairs is important to know. Is there room under that deck or could that deck become a solid structure? Where is the double garage and can a room be built above that?

We were thinking of either adding off the back from the master bedroom (create a hallway where the closets are and add a larger master bedroom suite. We really need closet space. I would like a slightly large bedroom, I really don't need a huge bathroom, but I would like a very large walk-in closet.

The second options would be to add-on to the left of the Living Room/Dining Room with the same thing. Here the only difference was we thought we could expand the Dining Room a little. But I am having a hard time knowing where the entryway to the bedroom would be and what the outside of the house would look like. I don't want it to be too flat in the front.

The garage is under the master bedroom and the other 2 bedrooms so we can't build above it. Our driveway is on the right-handside of the house (bedroom side) and swings around the back to the garages. So the back of the house is part of the drive-way so not much of a slope at all. Pretty flat. The deck is above a cement slab which has a sliding glass door that goes into our gameroom.

I prefer the first option of adding onto the back of the existing master. It would also provide extra undercover parking outside the garage. Kids grow up and get cars before you know it so this would be a good solution. I'd add an extra bathroom as well as the bigger closet. You then have a 4 bedroom 2 bath home with parking for 4 cars. That's got to add significant value to the house. Reconfiguring the kitchen could give you more dining space.

What did you end up doing? We are having the same conversations about our house, it is the same layout.

So our home layout is very similar, but if we built Dytecture’s design our septic tank would be right under the ensuite bath. Not sure how to solve that... any solutions would be gladly accepted!
