Should I paint my front door a different color? I want to leave the trim around the door and windows white.

My front door is white and my storm door (which is glass and wood) is white. I want to leave all the trim around the door white. I'm afraid if I change the color of the doors to match the shutters that it will make the door look small. Any suggestions to improve the entrance of this brick colonial is welcome. Thank you so much!!

    Here are some pics of my green front door on my 1925 Colonial. It makes it very easy for the pizza delivery guy to find our house.

      I'd like to see a more interesting color than white on the door, even if it is just black like the shutters. But many other colors could look good too--red, reddish brown or reddish-orange, green, blue, aubergine, etc.. Lots of options for a lovely colonial like yours.

      I think the trick to making your door look larger is to paint both the storm door and the regular door and the color I would select is red!

      Google "Dublin doors" images. Rows and rows of red brick town homes, using only paint colors on their front doors to differentiate themselves. Wonderful inspiration for some adding some sassiness to classic architecture! Remember, it's only paint, so keep trying til one hits you.

      I like the RED! Usually I would say avoid red with brick but the wide white molding around the door makes the red work.

      Carolyn is correct . You must paint your storm what you paint your door. Lots of wonderful suggestions here. Mine is black.

      Your home is gorgeous. It's crisp and classic, I LOVE the white, keep it! Your storm door is a very nice and expensive wood door. I just can't get next to the garish colored front door trend except maybe on a cottage. Hold your ground and keep it classic and dignified.

      I vote green: a ferny, yellowish green. I have a red brick home with green door and love it and get many compliments on it!

      I would recommend a color and I think black would look fine and would not make the door look smaller. The other bonus - it would disguise any soot or dirt buildup on the door which is so visible on a white door.

      It's so nice to see properly fitted, functional shutters on homes! We love the idea of a red door, as that is a classic combination with black shutters and white trim. Or even a deep cranberry color.

      I see many people painting their doors red. I'm a bit different so what about a stressed wood door? Just a thought. I would definitely leave the rest white.

      I would suggest you leave the storm door and trim white and then paint the entry door a light to medium silver grey to emphasize the three-dimensional nature of the two doors. I also would paint the house numbers on the white door black or gold-tone to make them stand out more.
