I'd try changing bulbs. Talk to a paint professional about an over glaze? Re-paint?

One thing that could be affecting the color at night is the color of your lampshades. I can't recommend a specific color shade without being in the room and seeing it but you might try different ones (that can be returned) to see if it helps. Also, if you have inadequate lighting, that would create dark corners. Maybe more table lamps with 3 way switches.
