Not really, are you trying out some bold colors or more neutral tones?

Neutral colors like taupe, browns, beiges, creams, butter yellow. Putting in hardwood floors (acacia natural) and vinyl tile complimenting color. My cabinets and trim are currently white (that could change to off white cabinets or espresso cabinets and off white antique white trim. Doors are also white in the house, but could paint them too. Lots of options, too many I think at times.

Paint samples are crucial! I couldn't survive without those little cans. I'm ashamed to say I've sometimes bought as many as 10 of them for choosing a paint for a single room, slapping up big samples of them on walls, looking at them in different lights, and fussing over my comparative choices for days. But this is how you get a color that looks good with your furniture, in different lights, and next to different colored rooms in your house.

Feeny is right, I have no less then 6 larges swatches of paint samples in my living room right now.

You need to find an inspiration point - see my mood boards below for some ideas, once you've established your inspiration - (eg: fabric, favorite dish, or painting) then pull colours and patterns from that inspiration to create your room. Collect swatches, bring them to your home - see if everything goes together, not just the paint, but fabrics, wallpaper, flooring, tiles etc., etc., GOOD LUCK

Putting many samples up on the wall is definitely a smart decision. Paint sample cards can look very different than the actual paint itself. Take a look at the samples at different times of day because the light coming into the room can make a big difference. Two walls painted the exact same color can look completely different depending on the light hitting those walls. Pick whichever paint color looks best in your home, not what looks best under the harsh florescent light at the paint store. Good luck, picking paint can be tedious but once it's all done you will be happy you spent the time!

You are all so great. Just went out and brought about 25 different swatches home. Going to narrow it down to 6 I think once I have a good look at home in my lighting, etc. Stay tuned :D
