mosaic tile falling off the mesh- help!

I just got our bathroom tile in. Part of the tile are these beautiful (and very expensive) mosaic border pieces. When I opened the box, several of the small pieces had come off the mesh and were floating around in the box. Some of the pieces are square, so putting a square back in a square probably won't be too hard, but a lot of them are in different shapes and it's going to require sorting through the box trying to find each individual piece, and god forbid one get lost!

Is this normal? Should we have expected this when ordering a mosaic tile that some would fall off their mesh backing? Or should we request that they replace these mosaic pieces with ones that are fully together?

I just went up to put the pieces that have fallen off into a baggie so they wouldn't get lost. I counted 40 pieces that had come loose. But looking at the mosaic borders, and trying to count how many pieces would be needed to fill those holes, I came up with more than 40. I guess I need to call the tile store, but if anyone has experience with whether or not this is normal, I'd appreciate it before I yell at someone for poor packaging if this is actually what usually happens!

It's not uncommon for a few pieces to come loose during transport or handling, but if you've got that many off the mesh, it kinda defeates the purpose of having the mesh. I would contact the tile store and exchange them. You'll have a heck of time installing them piece by piece.
