Induction pan problem... any ideas?

I have just moved into my new house with a GE profile induction cooktop (with 5 burners). I have a set of pans that I have had for years that I almost never used, but when I checked they are magnetic. The pans are waterless cookware, cordon bleu brand.

I first tried about a week ago and boiled water in the smallest pan and all worked great. I loved it. Then the other day I needed to boil some water and used my largest pan. I kept getting an error code that said "f" which after looking it up means that the pan is not on the burner correctly (or perhaps not magnetic, so the cooktop can't heat it). So, I tried all my other pans from this same set. The only one I can get to work is the very smallest pan. A magnet will stick solidly to all of the pans.

Does anyone have any ideas why one pan would work and the others won't? I did try them on all burners, still no luck.

Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated!

No idea but I'm really interested because I need to get some new pans for my new induction cooktop. I thought if a magnet stuck to the bottom, they will work on the induction. I hope someone can help solve this.

It could be that the smallest pan was made in a different batch and thus has a higher ferrous metal content.

Cookware manufacturers often make different types of pans on different factory lines, or even in different factories.

This may sound like a dumb question, but did the magnet stick to the bottom or the side?

I've seen some where the bottom was different than the sides. For example, the bottom was copper and the sides were stainless.

do you have the original box that the pots came in? You may not since you said you have had them for years. Most cookware will state if it can be used for induction. Some of my induction pots/pans have a universal code on the bottom that symbolizes induction friendly. I just googled you brand & it states it can be used on any cooktop. Could there be different types of cordon bleu? I am not sure what "waterless" Cookware is. Sorry this didn't help. Will keep trying to research this.

First step, get an induction rated pot in a size you will use constantly that is the same size as one of your old pots that won't work. If the pot works fine on a suitable burner then your old set is no good. If the new pot won't work on any of the burners then there is probably something wrong with the pot size detection system and you should call GE and your dealer for service or to replace the unit.
