Thanks for posting the tip!

Thanks trudymom. I'm pretty sure that this is what my electricians said they were doing on our sloped ceiling, but now I have to check! Thanks for keeping me on my toes. j.

Depending on the height of the ceiling, recessed fixtures will provide little light. Now, recessed fixtures that 'wash' the ceiling with light can be very effective. Talk to a lighting company before you decide.

When you start with X foot-candles 16 feet above the floor, you only get a smidgen of that light at floor level.

You also need to make sure the recessed can box you purchase is the same slope as your ceiling, or you'll be shooting light across the room and into your eyes.

DH insisted on cans in our cathedral great room and MBR. I talked him out of them before the sheetrock went up. Electrician pulled the wires down to the walls and I bought four sconces for each room instead.

Or, you can put gimbal trim on the cans so you can aim them down or to wash the wall.
