Need help for new kitchen!

Before finding these forums, my kitchen was going to have JennAir gas cooktop, double oven w/convection, Sharp microwave drawers, and free-standing 25 cu ft fridge.

I am now switching to induction of some sort for cooktop. Like what I've heard abt Advatium/Velos (??), esp since I have 4 young kids with impatient appetites. Thinking of new Advantium 240 with Trvection oven underneath. Would this be eough to count for my double oven AND microwave drawers? Does anyone ever have something in the Advantium and need a2nd microwave?

As for fridge... built-in too much $$. Designer says freestaning would stick out too much, but I don't want to give up fridge space for 36" CD and to go w/bigger means loss of pantry space.

HELP! Never knew these decisions would be so taxing!

Thanks!

    Hi, Kewlbel300.

I am new to these forums this week, but have learned so much. I have asked lots of questions this week and people have been very helpful.
I can tell you that when we were first were going to get appliances, we were going to get the Advantium 120 convection/microwave and the Monogram convection oven. I felt, from the recommendations of the salespeople that the two would be sufficient. Then I decided I wanted to have double ovens and a microwave.
People seem to really like the Advantium as an oven and microwave, it does a lot and I would have gone with it, if I didn't want the double oven.
However, I would suggest you try them out in a showroom, if possible. My experience in trying them in the showrooms was that if you used the 240 as the oven, it took awhile to cool down and you wouldn't be able to use it immediately for a microwave, if needed. Plus it was quite noisy. The 120 was quieter and could be used immediately after using the oven. Just my experience.

As far as the fridge. Again, this is one of the decisions I have been struggling with, too. From what I have seen and heard, a lot of the counter depth fridges are taller, so it makes up for the space that way. Just check the specs on your fridge now and on a new fridge. When I did that, I found out that a 36" CD actually had a "bit" more cu. ft. than the one we have now. Good luck! I feel your pain!

Plenty of freestanding refrigerators can fit nicely in a 24" deep cabinet, check dimensions on spec sheets. (Usually you will see both a total depth and depth-minus-door.)

You might also have the option of bumping back the wall behind the fridge, or making the cabinet itself deeper. A friend of mine has a 30" deep cabinet for her refrigerator, flanked by two 24" deep pantry cabinets. It looks really nice and breaks up that w-i-d-e wall of cabinetry.
