We have a shower that is 6'4 x 3'4". I looked ino a custom shower pan, but couldn't find any place that made one more than 6'. For some reason, I quit worrying about it.

It turned out (DUH! to me) that they just tile it in jus like they'd tile any other floor surface. I picked a smaller tile for the floor (as opposed to the 18" bathroom floor tiles), but it was no problem at all.

I think I like the tile better than I would a custom shower pan.

i didn't want a tiled shower floor anymore...didn't want to have to deal with shower grout issues. thought about a custom sized corian pan, but saw and really liked the kohler cast iron pans-beautiful colors... ordered the 36x60...will add a bench so shower dimensions will be ~ 50x60".

Many cultured marble places will make a custom size. And there are a lot of color choices these days.

Cultured marble vendors will make a custom pan. Marble companies also have a cultured product called Polystone that's a granite look. We were going to do our bathroom in Polystone, but found a great deal on Talavera tile and are going with that instead.

Not sure you would call it custom...but Swanstone has pans that come in many different sizes. Our shower is rectangle with the door on the short side. Didn't want to do tile. So many told us there were no options. One day walked into another kitchen bath place, asked the same question again...expecting the same NO answer. They said sure swanstone can do it.

I just replaced a leaky tiled shower (home is only 4 yrs old) with a custom solid surface pan. The guy that came in and templated for the pan was a perfectionist and I watched him like a hawk.

The walls are being tiled (by a different tile man that used Kerdi). The bathroom is destroyed right now and I don't have any pictures to show you. But, the shower pan is really pretty. Not cheap looking at all. Just blends in which is what I wanted. It has kind of a textured bottom and the wall tile goes all the way to the floor. No grout lines and a really good match to the wall tile that I picked out.

I was shocked at the price. My shower is an odd shaped neoangle and the pan was 2400. but I just bit the bullet and paid it. Long sad story after replacing the tiled pan twice by an incompetent tiler.

Thanks for this post. I checked out the Kohler shower receptor/pans and I know Corian makes one as well. With all the problems that tile on the shower floor can generated, my next shower will have a pan on the floor and tiled walls.
