I'm not at home and don't have the measurements, but we just did the same thing, same tub. We were afraid the curved rod would pull the curtain out. It doesn't. ;-)

I bought a $10 extension shower rod and the hooks and curtain that I was planning to use. We hung everything on the cheap rod first, and used the shower, testing the height of the rod (easily movable) and moving it around on the tile. Then I bought the curved rod, hung the hooks and curtain on it and got my daughter to stand in the tub, holding the rod in place at the height we liked while I was checking length, angles, etc. We fooled around a bit with it, and discovered that the curvature of the rod doesn't require a longer curtain.

My DH and GC mounted the rod when I wasn't home, and ended up mounting it further in toward the tub than I had planned (as the instructions advised), but it worked out fine and we love the results. The extra elbow room from the curved rod is great, especially in a 30" tub.

There is a web-sit that I was on that had extra long shower curtains. I imagine it was to be used in a situation like your with high ceilings. I will try and find it and post it for you.
Have you already decided where you would hang it?

This is not the site I was thinking of, but even BB&B has extra long shower curtains that are 84" long. I know there are even more sites out there. Do a google search and you will find them. I hope this helps. Margie

If there's a door that swings toward the tub, make sure the bar is above it. Or you'll have to adjust/install a stop so they don't hit.

Boy Casey, I'm glad you mentioned that about the door swing. I hadn't thought about that. My plan is to do the same thing Cindy did, but I don't think I thought about the door swing. See, there's another reason we should have a pocket door, but the budget had to be cut somewhere. Oh well!

Great flsea...I love the curved curtain rod. I don't even feel like I am taking a shower in a tub. It is so roomy. I do not have the glass door, only the rod.

I took a couple of photos yesterday of the shower rod. Hope this helps you visualize!

(I bought the fancy double hooks, planning to put an outer curtain up. We like the fabric liner well enough to use it alone for now.)

Cindy, Now that you have lived with it mounted according to the instructions do you wish it had been further out? From your picture it looks like the mount is centered on your outer tub ledge and I think it looks perfect the way it is. If you hadn't told me I would have thought that was the "fancy curtain". Very nice!

With a 84" shower curtain and curved shower rod mounted 86" high-wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the curved rod giving more space. I want to put up that curved shower rod but I'm thinking by the time it gets to my height in the shower curtain-there would be no curve or additional space. Has anyone ever mounted one that high and been happy. Did it really give additional space. Thanks

flseadog - I'm fine with the location as it is. When I came home and learned they had moved it in a bit, I was ready to be upset, but it is just fine. Since the master bath is under construction right now, four of us are showering in there daily, and we all are happy with the elbow room. Thanks for the compliment. An outer curtain made the space seem smaller, and it's minimal already.

I'm not thrilled with the fancy hooks though...they fly off the rod when you take the curtain down - I've been hit a couple of times. My husband threw his towel over the hooks yesterday, and when my daughter pulled it off to shower, a hook flew in the toilet. She was not pleased. Oh the joys of togetherness!

cassie 225, I don't think you would lose much width in 10-12" of height. It doesn't curve in to the tub until the very lower part. But that's why we did the temporary rod experiment first -- I didn't want to drill holes in the tile until we were sure where we wanted it. Well worth the $10.

I love the idea about testing the correct height with the adjustable tension rod before the permanent mounting. Thank you!
