vent about GE service

Hi all. I am in the middle of an aggravating experience with GE service and felt like venting.

Background - I recently bought a new GE Profile OTR microwave convection oven model JVM1790SK as part of a complete kitchen redo. It's my first convection & I really like it. Didn't have room for a double oven, so this gives me effectively a second smaller oven.

It's now a couple months old & a piece of the door handle broke off. Still worked fine, but it was under warranty, so I called GE. Scheduled an "appointment" for the next Friday from 8am-noon. In the meantime, a package had arrived from GE, presumably with the necessary part. Stayed home on Friday, but no one showed up. When I called at noon to see if they were running late, I was told the appointment had been changed to Tuesday. Oops, they forgot to tell me. That wasn't convenient, so I changed it to the next Friday. On that day the serviceman came promptly, took off the door and opened the package from GE. Oops again - they sent the wrong part! He put the old door back on & said I'd have to make a new appointment - for next Friday.

Shortly after he left, tried to use the microwave, and it wouldn't start. Slammed door & it started OK. Closed the door normally & it didn't start again. grrr Called GE to see if the tech could return & fix latch. After going through numerous levels of "push 1 for .... push 2 for...", I finally reached a person. She apologized, but said she didn't have the tech's number. All she could do was e-mail the dispatcher who could call the tech. Long story short, he did finally return that day. Now the oven works again, but I'm still waiting for this coming Friday to get the handle fixed. Wish me luck.
