My builder just finished installing a cross beam ceiling detail in my 14 x 11 dining room. I think he used 1 x 4's
so it gives the look of beams without making the 8' ceiling seem too low. I'm thrilled with the results.

I wish I could be more help, but any pictures I take would be on my cell phone and I have no idea how to get them from there to the forum. If it isn't too hard and someone could walk me through it, I'd be willing to try.

I used 4x4 beams with an 8 foot, and I think they look great.

If I ever have a guest that's 7'8", he'll have to duck.
