First Table Attempt

Well, it's over. Yesterday was the day for the Holiday Home Tour. For those that missed my first pictures, I am helping my SIL decorate her house for this. This is my first ever attempt at setting a table. Since I am new at it I do not have much to work with, but my SIL was happy with it. It is a pretty simple looking table. Thoughts ???

What a nice festive setting! I love the colors! You have tied them in very nicely with your room! For your first...you'd never know it was, this is wonderful!

Kim, Your table is very, very pretty. I love your poinsettia dishes and stems. Everything is put together perfectly. Your centerpiece is beautiful and I love the poinsettia ornament there. You did a fantastic job and no one would ever guess it was your first table setting attemp.

Kim, I love that centerpiece! The poinsettia Christmas ornaments in it were the perfect touch to tie it in with the dinner plates.

Kim, wonderful tablescape! Everything looks so nice together and I love the tablecloth with the lovely design on the edges. Wish I could have gone on the Tour! I also looked at the other pics in your slideshow and thoroughly enjoyed them! The Christmas Tree is beautiful and I also got an idea to decorate a similar lidded box I have (on the sofa table in one of the pics) like you did there. I think the wooden blocks spelling Merry Christmas by the sleigh on the mantel gives a nice vintage feel. Thanks for sharing!

Kim it really looks very cheerful! I love the mirror also. The table cloth is so pretty too. I usually don't care for white with Christmas stuff, but I see now how that can make the whole thing "pop." Is there a link for your other pictures?

Thanks everyone for the compliments. There is a great story behind the table cloth. It is a mesh overlay, all four corners and each side have a felt/beaded design:Christmas tree, santa, stocking, snowman, can't remember the rest. It was made by my husband's great grandmother. It is 60 years old. It is such a treasure to have. The center piece is a concoction of stuff adding up to about $8.00 by using stuff from the GW and Hobby Lobby.

PDG777-if you click on one of my photos above it should take you to my album.

WOW! Kim, you made a beautiful table! I love it. That centerpiece is awesome. My DH just bought himself a holly tree with the pretty red berries. After seeing this centerpiece, I told him he had better guard his holly tree!

You did a fabulous job. Would never know it was your first time doing a table like that. Love how all the colors come together. The ornaments with the centerpiece are a nice touch. Love the dishes.

Kim I agree w/everyone. Very pretty dishes. Your table is just lovely. The tablecloth and the special meaning that goes with it is just beautiful.
You did a wonderful job on your centerpiece, and the white candles compliment it all.

Kim, my jaw is still on the floor as there's no way I can believe this is a FIRST table setting. WOW. I love everything about it. And the history of that tablecloth is wonderful. What a treasure to have.
I snagged two of the photos to put in our Tablescape Xmas album. Beautiful job, I'm seriously envious!

Thanks everyone. The dishes are from JCPenny a couple of years ago. I love poinsettias so they were an easy pick for me. I hope to start on my own house this weekend. I will post some of my own when I can.
