Vinyl Windows Installation - Damaged Flange Problem

Hi,

We've just had our vinyl windows installed and we've run into a situation. After the windows were installed (we haven't started with the exterior hardie plank or anything else yet, just installed the windows in the openings - sorry, not sure if I'm explaining it right), we noticed a potential problem with two of the windows.

1. Larger living room window - the bottom flange (under the frame) appears to have been ripped (about 2-3 inches) if you stick your finger underneath the flange, you can separate it from the frame and see inside the house.

2. Family room window - the bottom right corner of the flange looks like it was cut / or shorn off and we can see inside of the house.

Our builder & window supplier both have said that the flanges can get damaged, but it's not an issue and won't affect performance. They've said the concern would be if the frame itself was damanged. They've "fixed" the situation by siliconing the living room window tear; and have inserted some foam closing the fame of the family room window.

Should we be worried about problems with the windows down the road and water/ moisture problems? Or are they right & it's not a problem?

Thanks!
