It might just be me, but I don't think that either the marble or the glass will benefit from being placed together. One is so traditional and the other so contemporary...somehow they don't work for me.

Have you considered the same shapes of accent tiles in other materials? Or maybe you could direct us to a pic showing the two working together well?

I LOVE your glass with marble, particularly that color. I wonder if the SHAPE of the glass may be a concern five years from now - it may a little less expensive down the road.

Look at some recycled glass which has an aged, yet modern appearance & works well with marble. Order a sample sheet and grout it in white (I don't like beautiful glass with gray grout) or find an upscale tile store with grouted samples - it looks not so good without the grout. I'm using it in mixes of blue, green and aqua. (Sorry - my second mention of this tile; I have no interest in this company - just use this as an EXAMPLE of another type of glass.)

Thank you both for your thoughts -- I am also concerned that the shapes will date the border. Then again, it's likely the whole bath will be dated before I want it to be. I agree that the grout will make a difference that is hard to envision...

Sandy, I wish I had a good picture to show you. Not having one is one of the reasons I'm stuck! I've seen lots of glass (e.g. heavy shelves) around carrara and I often see this soft/watery color either in paint, fabrics, or porcelain with marble, but for some reason I'm really hooked on wanting to accent with this peaceful bit. (If I was rich & could redo in a few years, I'd tile the whole shower in a nice translucent glass aqua glass for the water-effect I feel from it.)

I tried to diagram the tile I'm leaning toward--see link. (I feel like the ovals are too soft/little contrast and the 3x6 look too much like traditional subway tiles.)
