Okay, obviously I meant vhl-1 and vhl-2 in the message . . . wish you could edit on this forum!!

We're looking at the same fans. The vhl1 is discontinued, though I can still find it on the internet. The vhl2 is smaller in size, which we prefer. There are some differences that you can see by doing a compare on the Panasonic web site. Select ceiling fans.

Just out of curiosity...we were directed to this fan as a heat source for our 5x7 bathroom. We want to remove the baseboard heater b/c it rusts out. Options that were suggested to us were radiant heating (too $$) and a toe-kick heater in the vanity. But we don't want a vanity all the way to the floor as it just closes up the small space. Anyway, long intro to the question...any thoughts on whether or not this would be an adequate heat substitute. We're in MA and the bathroom is on the north side of the house.

I'd done side by side comparisons and still wasn't sure exactly -- in practical terms -- what the differences were. I asked someone at an online store and she called Panasonic . . . you're right, the VHL1 has been discontinued and replaced by the VHL2. They told me the new one is quieter and more efficient. Hope so. That's what I ordered.

BTW -- I ordered mine from wamhomecenter.com -- they had the lowest price I found, and no shipping or sales tax (outside of Florida). I ordered it mid-morning Monday and it was here by noon Wednesday. I was very impressed with their helpfulness, quickness, and price!

I'm hoping this will be enough supplementary heat to warm the tub area while I soak!
