Wall ovens with rotisseries?

We want a wall oven with a rotisserie. So far, all I have found are:

1. The Thermador Professional. Objections are price, reliability, and the beyond-stupid analog clock (you can only adjust it forward, so a 1-hour backward change requires pressing a button for a couple of minutes to wind it forward 11 hours, and heaven help you if you get a clock that runs slightly fast).

2. The Capital Maestro. Haven't seen one, but if the roll-out racks are as pathetic as the ones we saw in a CC range, it's a non-starter - easy-glide full extension racks are a must-have.

Are there any others?

Does the Capital Maestro wall oven have gliding racks that are equal to those in all the other premium brands?

If the Electrolux Icon had a rotisserie, it would be our perfect wall oven...

Are you restricted to gas only?

Oops - I should have said the ovens must be electric. We DO NOT want gas ovens.

I've got a Miele oven with rotisserie. It's excellent. But I have the non self-cleaning model from a few years ago. There have been multiple reports on oven temperature issues with the self-clean ovens. No idea where that currently stands in terms of resolution.

No gliding racks = no sale, regardless of which way the doors open. I want to get the oven contents clear of the oven cavity, not reach into a searing hot oven. For an example, think of using an instant-read thermometer (Thermopen) on a custard in a water bath. It looks like that rules out both Miele and Gaggenau.

It also looks like Miele is discontinuing the model that had the rotisserie. It's hard to tell from Miele's execrable web site, but AJ Madison and ABT both show H 4882 BP as "discontinued". No other model seems to have the rotisserie.

Agreed the Capital does not have the best rolling racks that's for sure, but the do have a really really good if not the best Rotisserie.

So which is more important rotisserie or fully extending rolling racks, unfortunately I think you are looking for something that does not exist.

Trevor: "Agreed the Capital does not have the best rolling racks that's for sure"

I'm sure you are pointing out to Capital that this is an area they need to improve. We would have considered the CC range instead of the rangetop, but the racks were a total turn-off. Likewise, the Maestro wall ovens would have been great but for those racks. Add those two pieces together, and that's a lot of potential $$ they are losing just from our household.

We could probably live with the silly Thermador clock, but their poor reputation for reliability is a major concern.

Au contraire, Chef series ovens offer rotisserie as "optional accessory" -- see link. They also have glide-out racks available.

Tis less for more in this case, and again, I'm not focused on difference between this series and masterchef. Likely someone here knows offhand. FWIW I've never used the preset features and find them useless but I'm an old-school cook.

I retrofit my older oven with the glide-out rack. It comes with the pan that slips underneath. When I'm using the rotisserie it does exactly what you're describing -- rolls out over the door so the skewers can be easily lifted out of the mechanism. My rack also had to be adjusted. That said, for the rotiss, for the bread baked in the Le Creuset and a big turkey it's what I wanted. I also sometimes roast chicken and lamb right on the rack with the drip pan underneath. Bit of a chore to clean but all of them are.

If you go this way, it may be easier to get an extra older style pull out rack with pan, which I have anyway. That's less to clean when convection roasting directly on the rails. But that's a different issue.

Again, I don't know the status of the oven heating issues though we've recently had posters going with Miele ovens lately and no complaints. Dodge1959 may know more about that since he sort of keeps track.

Thanks RococoGurl! I had missed the fact that one can add some of this stuff as accessories. As I noted, Miele's web site is not very clear on some of this stuff.

If we want a double oven (subject to review vs. single + a speed oven or steam oven), we'd have to go for "H 4894 BP2". That model does not show rotisserie as an accessory, but it does show "kebab grilling device", which appears to require the rotisserie in order to function. I downloaded the manual, and that shows the rotisserie (but not the glide racks). Since Miele's W. Coast office is not far from where I work, I guess I can just go and take a look to get a definitive answer.

Of course, now we have to have a serious debate in our household about whether it's worth an extra $3K over the Electrolux just to get the rotisserie...

I haven't seen any "NEW" posts, good or bad, regarding the Miele oven temp problem, perhaps those that have bought Miele ovens recently can chime in as far as temperature performance goes. As I mentioned in other posts, there were at least 2, maybe 3 posters here on GW that had problems with the low oven temps, and the ovens were replaced but unfortunately the new ovens had the same problem. The last post I recall seeing about the problem, was where a supposedly new software/firmware fix was installed in one of our poster's ovens here, and it did not fix the problem.
This is not to say that one could not just use a fudge factor and just turn the oven up a bit higher (with practice one should be able to dial in the needed temps).
Also according to posts here on GW, some of the ovens
"baking modes" are closer than others , so maybe choose "That Mode"?

I will do some more "Off GW" research and see if I find anything new, regarding the problem.

As far as the Elux and the fully gliding out racks, We've had our oven since 2006. Bakes great, (Ask CJ about that too). The glide out racks still work as new, which is very smooth, to say the least, and they will sure come in handy
next month with a heavy turkey, as ours is mounted below counter alto raised up about 6"'s off the floor.

We live in S Calif so an indoor rotisserie is not a big deal to us, just steps away out on our patio is a BBQ with an infrared broiler and the rotisserie and I doubt there are many indoor ovens with rotisseries that can match the performance of that bbq, and in fact of all the turkeys we have done over many years, the best one we ever did, was on that infrared broiler using the rotisserie, but usually I'm lazy and I just do the turkey inside using the Elux oven and it comes out great.

Other things we considered when deciding on Oven was the
display and control panel. Was it easy to use (Intuitive) and could I read it without my glasses? (we have a 2 story house) and my freaking glasses are always on the wrong floor, (I use them only for reading and they are usually here (Upstairs) by this cmptr---so the big display on the Elux has saved me a lotta trips up/down those stairs, easy to read without glasses.

We are not "Matchey Matchey" (Miele Optima DW for example) but we did buy the Elux Speed oven and with both readouts being similar in appearance as well as operation, tends to make things easier for "Senior Citizens", like us.

Good luck with your pending decisions, if I turn up any more Miele oven info I will certainly post it here, In the interim do a search on main appliance (at the bottom of page) for Miele oven and you will be as current as I am as far as posts on Miele Ovens.

Although my Gaggenau does not have the gliding racks on your must have list, the rotisserie pan is designed for easy basting without removing the pan from the oven. The grill placed at the bottom of the roasting pan has a convenient opening to allow easy access to the drippings. Vegetables can be placed under the meat and be dripped on with out sitting in the fatty drippings. The more I use my Gaggenau, the more I appreciate it!

With my back acting up and holiday baking around the corner, I too can see the wish for gliding racks... In regard to reaching into a hot oven, it's not really an issue unless one is reaching over a very hot door. That was one of the things I first noticed, the cook doesn't get over heated with a side opening door.

So many wonderful appliances out there, and you're asking questions in the right place. Good luck!

Love, love love our Miele oven rotisserie! Check on the Miele web site -- I found that they can point you to a local dealer that has the items in stock. We purchased the Miele double ovens and Miele dishwasher via a local appliance dealer along with a GE refrigerator and microwave -- they gave a package discount that beat the on-line vendors and we got exactly what we wanted (with future local service). Much better than AJ Madison.

    "Objections are price"

better re-think your wants or adjust your budget upwards.

A rotisserie is not a common feature, requires more parts and will be found on upper end models, no of which makes for "cheap".

FWIW - SMEG has a few ovens with one. Only in 24-27" width though, but have the gliding racks.

December 2021 update - FYI was just on the phone with Miele and the only oven that they still manufacture that has a rotisserie is a 90cm wide model.

ilve stoves come with built in rotisserie no slide in racks and before anyone boo’s they have a bad rep but mine has had none of thw probelms people complain about. they just have to read d manual and didferent expectations for an intalian hand built stove.
