Can you clean inside a Range window?

I had a huge overflow with something on my range-top and it flowed down the front of the range and quite a bit seeped in between the glass pieces on the window - now it is horribly stained inside the glass. Is there any way to clean this myself?

I've disassembled an oven door to clean the inner glass surfaces. It was easy. I did this just before we sold the oven on Craigslist so that everything looked spotless.

The hard part was fielding my spouse's question as to why she had to wait until we were selling the oven before the internal glass stains were cleaned up.

After 37 years you'd think she know that's how things work around here. :-)

This was an interesting topic on the Cleaning Forum here on the GW a little while ago. Some of the posters were quite inventive in their effort to clean between the glass panels. I did it once on our previous oven and since I was worried about getting everything back together properly I took photos as I disassembled the door. I learned that having an extra set of hands is really helpful. Next time I'll call Mrtimewise! LOL

I found there was a narrow opening on the underside of the oven door that was just wide enough for me to slide something in between. I had to lie on my back to get to it. I used a long metal skewer with a thin cloth sprayed with Windex wrapped around it. It didn't get 100% clean, but it was better. Disassembling isn't something I would consider. I lack the 'handy' gene.

    mrtimewise, LOLOL!
joannaca's method won't work on every oven glass door. My KA is one that it won't.
Appliance repair person was here a few weeks ago for my washer. I asked about this. After telling him I couldn't get between the glass panes, he said it's not a diy project and to please not attempt it myself. He said it was dangerous. Said the way stuff gets in there is by spilling something on the open door (as I'm removing it from the oven) and then closing the oven door. Didn't realize I did that but guess I did.

Well, I tried the long brush with paper towel wrapped around it. Don't do that...the paper towel left paper residue and didn't come out very well. Then I sprayed a microfiber cloth on both sides with glass cleaner and used a ruler to push it up. It worked great, but was a few inches too short to get to the top. So then we used a wire hanger, which worked just fine, especially for getting the cloth out when the ruler came out first, leaving the cloth in the window! My result is not perfect, but much better than it was.

    Thanks, everyone, for your input.

Glad it worked for you. Wish it would work with my KA.
