You might consider gift certificates for restaurant or Home Depot etc. Most love their tools. Tape measures are always being broken, levels, depeding on the size gift looking at... Cordless drills etc are favorites.

Home owners often give gifts to both GC's and subs but usually only when they have done something beyond the scope of the original job. That could be anything fom 40 different stain samples for a painter to a big savings of time or money on a job.

Neither is expected but always appreciated. I have seen everything from parties and gift certficates to large cash bonuses.

In this economic client further work or really good business recomendations is better than a gift anytime.
