Cuttingedge appliances.com???

Anyone have any experience with cuttingedgeappliances.com? They have really good deals on the list of appliances I'm looking at, but I hesitate because I've never heard of them and buying big ticket items on-line makes me nervous. How do you tell if they're legit?

LG 25960ST Refrigerator $1929.00

GE Profile Induction CT 36" 1949.00

Fisher Paykel DD (Integrated) 789.99 x2

GE Profile Trivection Single 30" 2035.00

GE Advantium 120 Wall Oven $1163.75

Thanks for any help!

In 2002, I bought a DCS range, VAH, & a Bosch DW from them & everything was delivered on time & in great shape. That was 5 years ago so I have no way of knowing if things have changed, but I have nothing but good things to say about my dealings with them.

Oh good! One of my concerns was how long they'd been around. I guess if they've been around since 2002, well, that's good news. Thanks, antiquesilver, for your input.

We bought our DCS range from them in 2005. Great price, great delivery, free 3yr extended GE warranty.

You need someone who bought in 2007

No experience, but IÂve had my eye on them too since I was interested in the LG 25960TT (titanium). Too bad they donÂt carry the newer LG 25980 or the GE Profile with ice in the door. I keep checking in with them just in case :-)

Let me know your experience with them, jeri. I've got until January or February to make my actual puchase, though I've got to settle on appliances now for my kitchen designer.

I don't know if this is 100% correct but i had a customer call me this morning to order a range an AGA Range)in a rush.

He told me that Cuttingedge Appliances is in liquidation.

As i said this is just what i was told so take it or leave it. but I would suggest caution maybe advisable.

Cuttingedge appliance is the online store for Ajax Philadelphia (or at least, it used to be). Can anyone in the Phila area confirm that the brick & mortar store is still doing business?

In 2005, I ordered ALL of my appliances from them at great prices and with no problems.

For our current house, I ordered my KA built-in refrigerator and D/W from AppliancesUs.com, at the recommendation of someone on this board and my Thermador ovens and Monogram cooktop from USAppliance.com.

The KA prices were the best I could find anywhere (by several hundred dollars) and they arrived without incident but I think that AppliancesUS.com is no longer operational. I was a little worried because their website was kinda weird and I'd never heard of them so I guess I was lucky to get my appliances before they went under!

US-appliance.com has been in business for years and I believe is quite reputable . I was happy with both their prices and my interactions with them.

    Now to cuttingedgeappliances.com . . .

I was second-guessing the Monogram cooktop and decided to order the other cooktop I'd been considering - the Viking DGSU160. These cooktops were my only 2 candidates based upon their depth, which would allow me full use of the top drawer in my cooktop base. My last cooktop, the Dacor PGM365, was great but my drawer ended up being worthless.

Anyway, cuttingedgeappliances.com had the best price at $1669 so I emailed them from their website to ask if they could ship to Georgia since they're based in Philadelphia and many online retailers state that they can't ship or sell Viking out of their region. When I didn't receive a reply within a week or so, I sent another email. Again, no reply.

I then called and left a message on Van's voicemail (he's the sales manager whom I dealt with in 2005), stating that I was a previous customer and had sent a couple of emails and was now calling for info on a Viking cooktop. No reply. I called the Sales department several more times and always got someone's voicemail. I left another message and still didn't hear back from anyone.

So, after 4 attempts to contact them, I gave up and decided to keep the Monogram cooktop. It will probably work out for the best (we haven't installed it yet) because the Monogram, at least feature-wise, was the better cooktop anyway.

I'm not sure if cuttingedgeappliances.com didn't make any attempt to contact me because the answer to my question was "no" - they can't ship to Georgia - and they considered it a waste of their time to call or if they are actually having some kind of problems. At this point I personally would be wary about doing business with them due to the inability to actually speak to someone in person.

There was a notation on the ApplianceAdvisor site that I saw today stating that this web site for the Philly B&M store mentioned by another poster has been shut down.

    Appliance Advisor said:
    "Net Loss
Brick and Mortar dealer Ajax Philadelphia Inc and its two e-dealer subsidiaries Cstorestuff.com and Cuttingedgeappliances.com have closed their doors and internet connections forever. We have no details as to the cause of the closures."

Do not trust these people!!! We are building a new home so I picked out and paid for my appliances in Jan. 2007 but didn't have them shipped until Sept. 2007. They did ship them by Fed Ex but had not made arrangements to get them from the Fed Ex terminal to us so they sat at the Fed Ex terminal for about 2 weeks until Fed Ex called and said they had to be moved or they would charge storage. Well by now we are dealing with Jill and she asks us to locate someone locally so we do and give her their contact info and she makes the arrangements. They then pick up all of my appliancesat FedEx(without inspecting) them and bring them out. Everything was in good shape but the $5000.00 Capital stove, it was totally trashed!! Needless to say Fed Ex & the local shipper(I'm not sure they got paid either) say they are not responsible and neither would take the stove back. When we called Jill at cuttingedge she seemed very helpful at first but with time her tune changed too. Last week the websight(it's been redesigned though)quit working as well as all the contact numbers(temporarily disconnected). These people have really messed us up because the granite countertops were already cut to fit that stove and in order to get our certificate of occupancy we must have a working stove installed but paying for another stove is not in my budget. We have a lawyer but I don't know how hopeful he really thinks it looks because he knows how bummed I am over this. I think you are better off steering clear of these people as I feel they will resurface.

    Madponyup

It is very sad for customers and suppliers when a store goes bankrupt they leave many in such big trouble. I for one am not to surprised they Cutting edge finally went bankrupt it has been on the cards for sometime.

I was passed on a lot of cuttingedge appliance sales from one of my distributors , and i have to say that the prices and offers that cutting were selling for were crazy, its almost as if they were collecting as much money from customers before they declared bankruptcy there is no way they could survive on such low margins.

I am sorry you are in this situation. I would like to offer you some assistance if i can. If you feel it is worth a conversation please call me at the store on 978-232-0007.
