Lee sofa- from NC or C&B?

Thanks to this forum, I have been turned on to Lee Industries sofas & chairs. I'm wondering if anyone has compared prices with those from Alan Ferguson in NC & Crate & Barrel? As I understand it, one can purchase special order sofas (or any Lee piece that they make) through C&B and receive 25% off during a special promotion period in the fall (Oct or Nov...can't remember). AND their shipping is more reasonable than ordering from even your local furniture store. We don't have a C&B furniture store near us, but understand that we can order over the phone. So, has anyone ever priced it out between the two sources including shipping?

Thank you for any and all info.

I ordered my Lee sofa from AF in NC. I didn't price it at Crate and Barrel because everyone said that NC was so much cheaper than Crate and Barrel. There is, however, a sofa in the Crate and Barrel catalog made by Lee that is very similar to the one i got in NC, and the price I got in NC is not that much better. It may be different for different models. You do not pay tax if you order from NC and don't live there. However, the shipping from NC was outrageous... $350 for a couch and a loveseat. I also ordered 2 other couches from Crate and Barrel (furnishing a whole house) and they only charged me $99 for both. I also felt that the whole shipping process was so much easier with Crate and Barrel. They gave me a date, a time window, and they stuck to it. My stuff was sent from NC with some independent mover who "ran late" (6 hours), had no map, and ended up needing us to go and lead them to our house. We do not live in a rural area! It just ended up being a huge hassle. I love my furniture, but if I had it to do again I would definitely go through Crate and Barrel for the Lee.

Wow! I am so surprised with your response. My gut was telling me that the AF/NC route would be the way to go. I knew shipping was pretty good with C&B, but I had no idea. Well, thank you so much for responding, soxfan6!

    Famous World,
You may want to get a quote from AF and from Crate and Barrel, since the model you choose may be be at a greater discount than mine was. I would think the 25% off at Crate and Barrel would be the best price ... The shipping difference is crazy. I also think if there was a problem it would be easier to deal with Crate and Barrel. You may hear differently from others of course! You can go to the Lee website, find a model you like, request some swatches, and then get quotes from either place. I can vouch for the comfort of Lee...

Good Luck with whatever you decide!

Thank you! I'm kind of guessing that it will all come out pretty even in the end with the shipping, etc... I did price a sofa with our local furniture shop and I'm sure that we can do better with the other resources. Thank you for speaking up on the comfort. I will most likely purchase sight unseen, but am quite sure that I can't go wrong from all of the positive feedback I've read online. Thanks again for relaying your experience to me.

This is slightly OT but might be useful to know: I just bought 2 Lee "semi-custom" chairs from C&B (they have a name for this kind of sale but I forget what it is.) They offered a particular fabric and if you wanted another from their selection the price was the same, but the wait was longer and the return policy was different. It turns out I don't really like the way the chairs work in my LR, but C&B's return policy for their "semi-custom" furniture calls for a 20% restocking fee. That's pretty stiff, IMO. The chairs were a thousand dollars each, so that's $400, not including pick-up, which is over $100. Something to consider.
