My style is contemporary - clean lines - high contrast - all the things this room isn't:-). I am looking to redo a warmer contemporary feel.

Your dining room color is beatiful. Maybe some greys or taupe colors in the open floor plan would help. Definitely drapery fro ceiling to floor would bring the room closer and make it more cozy. Also, add some area rugs or reposition the furniture in the open area to give a seperation of space from one room to another. An open plan is beautiful but a cozy feeling may include adding something to flow from one room to the next. Luv the dining room!! :) ----> Have fun!

wrt floors, you have a few options for going modern/contemporary. I don't know if you plan to redo your floors, or just the furniture, but in any case...
