I need help with the location of my refrigerator in my new kitchen layout. The current proposal for its location was suggested by a designer but I think she had a french door refrigerator in mind instead of single door which is what I want.

The issue is that it will be next to a post, 19 inches out, which supports stairs going up to the bedrooms on the second floor. I suspect I will need to move the refrigerator inward so that the door doesn't hit the "wall". The stove will be underneath those stairs. There is a beam that drops down 13 inches to support the stairs and its 90 inches in length as you will see in the drawing. The drawing is minimal but I can add in as requested. This makes you appreciate word problems that you had to deal with in math. ;)

The kitchen is 12 1/2 x 16 ft and will have an island in the middle. I may consider putting a prep sink in it after reviewing another post.

Any suggestions?
