I have a Frigidaire Affinity 7000 stacked in my laundry room. It does a wonderful job on my laundry. Has all of the features I wanted, including a heater in the washer. Bought the pair at a local appliance dealer for about $1200 for the pair, installed and delivered. Have been using it for a year and am very please with my choice.

Actually, you can stack a whirlpool duet. I have seen it many times. I would say they are pretty equal in the breakdowns. The only reason I would go for the whirlpool duet is the washer has a filter, that can be easily accessed to the front, and can be cleaned on a regular basis. The frigidaire filter is not so friendly. You have to take the back off, and take the hose off to the pump, and kind of fish the filter out from the bottom of the drum. The reason, I mention this is on both products, the symptom will be, the washer will not spin. It will be alot easier on the Whirlpool, and I do run in to it quite a bit.Also I am sure if you want to stack the unit, space will be an issue. Tom www.applianceeducator.com

Another thing to consider with a stack is - Can you reach the dryer controls comfortably? I am short, and the Duet, LG's and GE's (and others) were just too tall to reach for me. Also, ours had to fit in a space that had a stacked White Westinghouse Spacemates installed. The Frigidaire fit the bill to fit in this closet. So measure your space, (we had both a height and depth issue) and go look at the pairs, in the stacked configuration. Be sure you can comfortably operate them before you order a set.

Phillygrl makes a good point about stacking a dryer on top of the washer. It's a great space saver, but make sure you can reach the controls on the dryer. There can be quite a big difference in height, width and depth between models.

The Frigidaires have the smallest "footprint" for large capacity machines, and give you the most bang for your buck. I have a Frigidaire 2940 washer, which can be stacked, and the lower front panel easily comes off for access to the pump or for service without going through the back of the machine. They have been a great laundry pair.

Thanks for the info. Now to get DH on board. WE just finished the inside and the garage/laundry is a mess. I just can't stand going out their, so I am ready to reorganize and purge. He is ready for a nap!!!
