Backsplash help!

My kitchen has been 90% done since September. I still need a backsplash!

Yesterday I went to Best Tile and another local tile place. the local place suggested either Walker Zanger Gramercy park in Brownstone or in Bone China. I do like both. They are pricey though.

I found Grazia Rixi Noce at Best Tile and its a lot less pricey. I also brought home some natural stone samples. Crema Marfil & Jerusalem Gold.

My countertops are Cambria Victoria. my walls are BM Moonshadow which is a pale green color. The cabinets are natural maple.

The kitchen is pretty bright and open. I thought I wanted to keep the backsplash light and airy. I like the idea of a cream tile. but the tile story lady thought a darker color that contrasts more with the cabinets would be nice. at home I still like the cream tile, but it doesn't look good up against my window trim since that is a slightly grayish white.

Ill probably just do a simple subway tile backsplash. No accent tiles or anything. But I do like the look of a herringbone pattern too.
I'll post another picture of the tiles, but here is a decent picture of the kitchen.

Here is the WZ and Grazia Rixi Noce

This is the WZ brownstone and the Grazia Rixi together.

The brownstone looked better I think in the store with the countertop sample I had. It doesn't match as well once I brought it home. I like the bone china, but it doesn't go with the window trim.

I assume you're planning to tile up to the uppers, but what about along the range wall?

I think the Rixi goes better with your counters, but looking at the photo of your kitchen (which is beautiful, BTW), the counters flatten out and do not seem like the prominent feature. Your wall color is nice, but changeable, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Can you show us a photo of the tile next to the cabinets.

Sure. Here are a few pictures next to the maple cabinets.

    This is the Rixi Noce

Not a big fan of the traditional crackle and ceramic with the contemporary speckled quartz, natural maple, and hardware. Do you like glass tile?

I've given up on voting for colors. I have found that the color changes in every photo that's posted. On my monitor, the crackle looks brown in one photo and grayish green in the other. The quartz went from golden brown to taupe. You're in the best position to judge color, but I think I'd like a little darker tone to contrast with the cabinets.

Yes, the colors do look completely different in the two sessions. I don't think your quartz is strictly contemporary looking. I like it and personally love crackle tile and the way it goes with your other colors. I don't know if it will be too dark though.

There are a lot of Rixi fans here, and you'll see a lot of pics where it's been used. But the noce does get dark fast when used alone. Someone here combined the crema and the noce a while back to beautiful effect. I have the dore but wish I'd gone with crema for the lightness of it, because my under cab LEDs turn the core freakishly green. Also in Rixi, the subways cost the same as the 5x5's, which ticked me, but you probably saw that already.

Here's the link for that pretty kitchen. The design might be too trad for you, but just look at the colors. Good luck.

Here is a link that might be useful: Noce and crema

I was just in my local tile store and looked at the Rixi Noce. It's lovely, but it's kinda dark.

You have a lovely kitchen here. I would pick the most neutral and least dramatic tile possible because it's one of the most permanent features in the kitchen. Paint and accessories, hardware, etc., even appliances can be more easily changed. Is your trim color permanent or painted? If painted, you can always adjust it to your tiles.

I have many samples of WZ tiles in pale grays and creams. Some of my samples would clearly match your window trim, and most would match your granite. all the grayish glass that I found was too dark for my kitchen, but my kitchen is half the size of yours, and has 1 window. I can only add one picture with this response, so I'll try to find some WZ grays.

Please, take your time. I was sincerely surprised at how subtle the differences were in the WZ tiles, and that made such a difference.

Thanks. I did see some pictures of the Noce and I wasn't loving it as much as I do in person. I do like the idea of something lighter. My trim is painted, but if I reprinted the kitchen windows, wouldn't I have to repaint the entire downstairs trim for it all to match? My first floor is very open and there really is only 1 separated room (dining room). So my breakfast area and family room and kitchen are really just one huge space.

DH really likes the Crema Marfil. Maybe I will post a picture of that.
