laundry sinks

We just tore out a pair of enamel laundry sinks because the cabinet was ancient and had gotten wet over the years. I was thinking of not putting any sinks in and using the space for counter and drawers. It would be a great place to fold laundry etc.

Anyone out there who does not have a sink in the laundry and who does not miss it. I don't have the room for both. Thanks

I'm sure I saw a sink that came with a cover to convert it to counter space when not needed, but I cannot remember where. I saw it on line when I was redoing my kitchen two years ago. Actually, I just serched on "laundry sink cover" on google, there were a bunch of hits, including a cover for utility sinks at home depot. Maybe you can have your sink and your counter too. I know I would be lost without my laundry sink.

How often do you use the sinks that you have? Do YOU think you'll miss them?

Have you thought of replacing the pair of large sinks with a smaller utility sink? I can't imagine being without a sink in the laundry. I use mine constantly.

Shrug. Before my current house, I never had a sink in my laundry room, never wanted one, and I don't use the one that I have now. I'm not really sure what I'd use it for.

Keep the sink!! I didn't have one for about 8 years and now that I do, I have no idea how I lived without it. Where will you rinse mops, soak clothes (especially during flu season!) wash paint brushes, and the list goes on. I had to rinse my mop in the kitchen sink which is totally gross and just makes more work because then you have to scrub the sink! Personally I'll never be without one again.

I'd love a mop sink. (I mop with a commercial mop & Rubbermaid wringer bucket) With the utility sink I still have to use a small bucket or gallon jug to move water to the mop bucket, and the only place I can DUMP the mop bucket is still the toilet.

I guess I just grew up using the kitchen sink for everything else and it never bothered me. I suppose it's nice to have a utility sink if you have the space, but it still just doesn't make my priority list.

I liked the idea jcrowley had of putting a cover over the sink.. that way you have your folding space AND there's still a sink if you or a future owner wants to use it.
