sounds nice to have a window in the laundry room, normally people would probably want a shelf over the w/d, but if you have the space to put the shelf for detergents etc somewhere else, I would go for the extra window...I love natural light!

Deanie 1, that would be kind of like having a window over the sink, nice to see outside while doing a boring job. Maybe you don't live in a cold place, but water pipes on an outside wall are at risk for freezing in our house. There are strategies to deal with that you could use in new construction. Enjoy the view!

I have a door with half window right next to mine and looking out is wonderful, even in winter. In decent weather though, more likely than not, I'll wander out there and forget to come back to laundry for a while. Go for it. Sandy

Only down side might be hard/impossible to open windows.

You don't mention how big the laundry room is. Mine is rather small and I have a window over the washer. It's nice for the extra light but just make sure you have enough room on either side for some cabinets or shelves. And, unless you are extremely short (I'm only 5'4") you shouldn't have a problem opening it.

OK, I knew if I posted here I'd get great advice. Believe it or not, I'm VERY short and the idea of not being able to open a window over the W/D never even occurred to me! Window will be elsewhere in the room--my laundry is pretty big. Thank you everyone!
