HELP! Miele washer 4840 vibrating like crazy

Here's the situation:

New Miele 4840 in newly reno'd basement laundry on concrete floor with porcelain tile. Floor slightly sloped. Washer is in between laundry sink and dryer. When we had the washer on the floor for the 1st week, it was perfect - soooo quiet. This week, we finally got the contractor to bring help to hike it up onto the pedestal. Now it shakes like crazy and to top it off, may have loosened the vent to the dryer as the dryer filter/vent alarm is going off.......

So - it's not the floor (the washer is fine on the floor) so it must be the pedestal. The washer is level in all directions. What should we do now? These things are a beast to move/adjust.

Miele suggests anti-vibration pads, but this doesn't make sense - the pedestal doesn't move much at all and the floor is solid so I don't think they will work. How do I make the washer more stable ON the pedestal? I'm ready to ditch the pedestal soon......

    We have older Mieles and once the feet are adjusted they need to be locked. Maybe one or more of yours have come unlocked?

    Otherwise, it sure seems that your pedestal is the weak link.

    the pedestal has it's own feet? which must be releveled? and adjusted for even weight distribution? and locked?

    This is where someone facile in the installation of Miele products would have paid-off better versus your contractor. Miele has unfortunately removed the link to their ten page pdf for their pedestals. There is very important information as to how to install these pedestals such as the following caveats: Fit the transport struts into the washer. To put the washer on its left side, the transport struts have to be fitted.

    Did the contractor ever lay the unit on its side? If so, it must be laid on its left side only.

    Do you have the matching Miele dryer? If so, did you connect the two units with the provided connectors?

    Other instructional caveats: Danger!

    The washer/dryer stand is suitable for single set-up.

    When setting up a washer and dryer combination, the stands have to be connected.

    The stand is not suitable for installation of a washer and dryer stack.

    To prevent tipping, as a matter of standard practice, the appliances have to be bolted to the stand.

    For a dryer single set-up, the stand has to be bolted to the floor with the floor installation kit M. no. 00253532. At least two feet of the stand have to be bolted to the floor, and at least one of them has to be a rear foot. For optimum stability, fasten feet positioned diagonally.

    Danger of injury: Do not stand on the drawer!

    Set up only washers/dryers that are not installed, for de-installation instructions, refer to the operating instructions for the appliance.

    During the installation, make sure that children or animals cannot get into the work area.

    Wear non-slip work gloves and safety shoes while doing installation work. Non-compliance may lead to, e. g., slipping, and result in serious injury.

    During the installation, be sure to keep your body and especially hands and feet out of the space under the appliance, or between the
    appliances.

    For the installation, tip the washer onto its left side, and the dryer onto its right side. It is important to have sufficient manpower to handle the weight of the appliances. Non-compliance may result in serious bodily injury, especially to the back. For the weight of the units, refer to the operating instructions for the units.

    Fire Hazard! Do not store flammable items in the drawers.

    Before starting any service or installation work, safely disconnect the appliance from its power source.

    I don't have these pedestals, but balancing my 1215 was a long trial and error process, but it paid off. (first floor, wood floors). Even when you get it as level os possible, you probably still need to slightly tweak it. There was a post long ago about this. During a spin cycle, feel the feet. You can actually detect which may be vibrating more and then slightly adjust it (down usually). Then repeat and repeat and repeat. However, on a basement floor I bet it will be easier. Much more solid and "sympathetic" vibrations are probably not an issue.
