I need major help!

I need lots of help but I'll start first with the paint color. Like others I've been reading about, I'm having trouble picking the right cream/gold. I got a sample of Tobacco Road and Shelburne Buff. I ended up thinking I liked the Shelburne Buff more and went with that but now that it's up, it looks really dark and not the buttery color I was after. I want something that is not too dark but is rich enough to make a statement on it's own. This color is for the family room, maybe kitchen or a contrasting color (it's a very open space), and the entry hall. The entry and family room don't get a lot of light, but the kitchen/bf area is quite a bit brighter.

Here's a picture that I found and I like the color. Sorry it's so small. Any thoughts?

I should also mention that my curtains are gold so I was trying to find something that would go with them. I guess if I have to, I will change them but that's one thing that has given me trouble selecting paint. Also, the couch has a greenish undertone to it in a neutral color so that is also throwing me off. But it was second hand and doesn't have to stay if it doesn't work.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I would really appreciate your help!
