Did you take possession of the house yet? If so it's best to provide all angles of the room so we can have a better sense of the overall layout.

Yes, I am in the house now. I don't have a sofa yet, but I have other furniture. I tried to post two images in my original post, but wasn't successful. This photo shows the fireplace wall. Perhaps you'll get a better idea. The previous owner had the sofa positioned centered directly across from the fireplace but the wall behind the sofa looks strange.

If the room is large enough, try a sofa and love seat in an L formation around the fireplace which I assume is your focal point. Possibly a chair and side table on the open end. Love your floors!

Is extending the wall out an option? Or even taking the wall completely out and having an open floor plan?

OK.. so taking the wall out is not an option. Maybe extending it out.. even with glass block or something like that so it's not too closed in. Another option could be moving the TV to a different location other than over the fireplace?

I've considered putting the tv lower on the right side of the fireplace but didn't want to see it when you come in the front foyer. So, the option would be to build shelving with lower cabinets on the right side and maybe a narrower unit on the right. That way, the fireplace wall would be a "unit" that is centered with the sofa. However, I was trying to avoid having to do any construction and working with what is there. Thank you!

Have you tried putting the sofa on a diagonal. The way everything is off centered I think you can pull it off. Take what your current layout is and just put it on a slant....still keeping the long sofa somewhat facing the tv. ( is there a better picture of the whole space?)

What if you had two loveseats facing each other with an ottoman or coffee table in the center? (does that make sense?)

Good idea. I have a sofa and 2 chairs and a coffee table. Actually am waiting for the sofa to be delivered. But I'll try it with what I have. I'll sell have that empty wall to deal with.

it depends on how much room you have after you've placed the furniture. you could either put a slim sofa table with artwork above, pictures, lamp. Or you could just leave out the sofa table and hang artwork or pictures.

How about centering the sofa on the wall and mounting the flat screen on a swivel arm. You could push it back to be out of sight or pull it out and angle it towards yourself for proper viewing even if the furniture is not all lined up

Thank you for the idea, but I think pulling out such a large TV that is mounted so high would be a little difficult or maybe awkward. I've never tried, so it might be as difficult as I imagine. Thanks again!
