I think it is gorgeous. Depending on your lighting conditions, it could be great. Hard to say without knowing anything else about the space.

I will say that you should probably be using Modern Emulsion for a kitchen. I don't think I would personally like the slight sheen of the ME in a very deep color. I think the samples come in Estate Emulsion, so it will be hard to judge the finish. You may not have the same "issues" about matte vs. shiny as I do! ;-)

I have never seen anyone here use that color before. Maybe your inquiry will scare someone up!

Have you googled F&B Brinjal? There is an interesting thread on Canadian House and Home about the color. Someone goes into a long explanation which I don't have time to read because I am supposed to be painting right now!! (I'd link it but I somehow think we're not allowed to link to another board...?)

Thanks, I will try the Canadian House and Home. I was going to order the sample pot when I realized, as you said, it was in the Estate Emulsion. I know that I've used Hague Blue and the two seem quite different, (I used it in my bathroom though and love it!) Good luck with your painting, would love to hear if anyone is using it!

Mackswim, love your kitchen! Is that barn board on your cabs?

Yes! It is all reclaimed barnwood. The back wall cabinets are quartersawn oak cut from the old beams. The island is a pine. Both come from barns over 100 years old. Thanks for noticing!

Love the barnwood! It's gorgeous! Not too sure about the Brinjal color. For some reason I don't think it is doing the space justice and that a different color would look better. I DO like purple (my last bathroom was a deep purple similar to your color) but would love to see a mock up with something else. Perhaps a warmer color. I see you have a lot of stainless so not sure how a warmer color would look .. just musing lol. I'd love to see a rusty orange back there. Or a Sagey Olive Green.
