No sure exactly , but PEX is less prone to rot and bursting than the rubber hoses supplied by everyone else.

Because, petuniatwelve, PEX is a superior product that will not rupture or degrade like a rubber hose. You would expect a PEX hose with a high end product like Asko. It's a good thing.

my 10-month old asko washing machine wasnt running and all of a sudden water was flowing from between the PEX and brass fitting. this seems like a bad design. i assume the quality control on the press fit is an issue, in general the PEX fits over the smooth copper and the brass fitting is torqued to a prescribed setting, or in my case was not. i hope Asko/Fredericks Appliances covers the warranty.
