Debating track lighting, recessed, or combination...

I'm redoing my basement to be my media/play room, instead of the massive junk room that it is now.

The main room is about 12 feet wide by about 18 feet long.

Currently it is lit semi-adequately by two surface mount 4" four tube fluorescents.

Those definitely go.

What I'm trying to decide is what lighting scheme I want to go with in its place.

One possibility is 6 or 8 recessed fluorescen cans for main purpose lighting and a combination of incandescent track lighting and/or valence lighting and ceiling fans for movie/ambiance lighting.

Running the cans will be something of a pain, but certainly not undoable.

Track lighting would be easier, and a lot more flexible, but the prices on some of the track lighting heads is just breathtaking!

I'm also considering adding radiant ceiling panels as the basement gets kind of chilly, so I'll have to accommodate for that, as well.

So...

Any suggestions? Comments? Pitfalls?

I'm looking at doing most of the wiring myself using existing circuits.
