Save $ at Home Depot or Lowes with a coupon!

I thought I would pass along some money saving tips here. You all have helped me immensely in the past week when I was looking for a new w/d. I know that many of you are going to purchase your w/d at either Lowes or Home Depot, right? Well, you can save some cashola by having a coupon mailed to you. I got one off of eBay for 20% off any purchase at Home Depot. It is good for anything up to $2000. (up to a $400 savings!) What is great is that Lowes will honor these coupons also. At least mine will when I asked the manager. When you go to eBay, simply type in a search for Home Depot 20% off coupon and many items show up. Just make sure you check the feedback of the sellers before you get one. By the way, these coupons were given to Home Depot employees as a Christmas Bonus. I guess many of them did not want to use them, so they are getting some $ for theirs.

Good Luck!

There was a HUGE scandal about these 20% HD coupons. Apparently they were never meant for general distribution, but for employees. I believe several people lost their jobs over this. PLEASE be careful about the legitimacy of coupons you purchase off E-bay, or receive via e-mail. When un-knowing consumers use invalid or fraudulent coupons (however unwittingly), it hurts all of us that do use coupons to save money, be it on appliances or at the grocery store. It is getting much more difficult to use real internet coupons at many stores, because there have been so many fake coupons passed - many of which are sold on E-bay or received via e-mail.

This is just a friendly warning for people who were not aware of the history of these 20% coupons to please be areful. You can find more info. on them by searching the web.

Hi Lolu! Would you please also send me the 20% coupon (HD, I think)? Please send it to brian_howard@bellsouth.net. Thanks a million!

    Sincerely,
    Brian

Hi Lolu, Would appreciate receiving the 20% coupon too. Please send it to mariomenezes @ hotmail.com. Thanks in advance!

I think it would be better and safer if someone put up a link to where they could get the coupons as it isn't really safe to post your e-mail address on an open forum such as this one. If you do, you are bound to get thousands of spam each day! There has to be another way to communicate this, perhaps by sending an e-mail to the person thru their journal in their userid. That way no e-mail addresses are exposed.

Searched all referenced links and links of links for hours but alas couldn't find 20% coupon. But I still got what I think was a great deal on my LG Steamwasher and Dryer at Home Depot. They are being delivered a week from Saturday. They rung up at $100 dollars each less than advertised for the cherry red which was a bonus I wasn't expecting. That covered the extended warranty on both machines plus. Then I got 10% off because I was purchasing $299 plus in appliances (not difficult). Then they were offering the $55.00 delivery cost (including haul away of old appliances) as a mail-in rebate. I printed those deals off the Home Depot website in case they didn't know about them instore. Not a problem, the salesman was very knowledgeable and helpful. Then he pointed out that there was a $75.00 Energy Star rebate for qualified appliances (and these are way qualified). So, even though I didn't find the 20% coupon there are still plenty of deals out there if you're willing to do a little research and this site is a great resource. And if one prefers Lowe's it can't hurt to ask if they will match the Home Depot Specials being offered at any time.

Wildcherry, can you tell about the Energy Star rebate at HD? I am about to buy that same WD at HD and want to make it as cheap as possible. And how do you get 10% off for buying $299 plus in appliances? Thank you!!

    Hi Lolu,

Could you send me the coupon? Email - stephanieblair@adelphia.net

    Thanks!!

    Hi Cecr,
If they don't have the energy star rebate form right at the store you can probably get it online at myenergystar.com or call 877-ESTAR 4 U. You are required to send a copy of a utility bill showing the address where the appliance was installed. If NSTAR isn't your power company check with yours for rebates.
I believe the 10% off deal was only good through February 19th. I just checked out the home depot website (homedepot.com) under the promotions tab and did a search for LG and the special now is a tiered gift card (you can get up to $250.00 back) but it's a gift card to spend at home depot. It probably works out to about 10% if you buy the washer & dryer. Not as good as cash off but it's better than a stick in the eye. Hope this helps!

THE COUPON IS NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE. IT HAS EXPIRED!! :(

If you really need one that badly, I might suggest you try eBay.

    Thanks and good luck.

I'd like to mention that I bought 3 coupons off ebay last month. I purchased 4 items, of which I saved $365 off the ticket. I still have 2 coupons left that I'm going to use to buy some more appliances.

I looked and looked all over the net to just print these coupons off, but could never find it. I'd just suggest buying some off ebay. I paid $13 for 3 coupons, and with what I've already saved, I've more than paid for the purchase of the coupons.

Why pay for them? You can go here: http://www.lowesmoving.com/ fill in the info and they'll email you the coupon within a few hours. You only get one coupon, but at least it's free.

Here's another one from Home Depot: https://www.homedepotmoving.com/sign_up.do?action=SignUp&regMode=10percent

You'll have to wait a few weeks for it to arrive in the mail, but again, it's free.

Because the ones on ebay are 20% off, where the ones you get from Lowe's or Home Depot or just 10% off. I saved $365 with the 20% off, and would have only saved half, or $182.50. Still worth it, IMO, to spend $13 for the 20% off coupons and save twice as much. Unless, or course, you just don't like to save money.

I don't think that there are too many people who don't like saving money. However, the 20% off coupons are not truely legitimate as they were originally given to Home Depot Employees. Some employees started selling them and it was a huge deal at Home Depot. Many employees got fired for accepting the coupons or telling the cashiers to accept them.
At 20% off the stores don't make any profit on large appliances. I think it is a little tacky to use these coupons at Lowes to "cheat" yourself to a larger discount. There are enough legitimate sales and you can negotiate prices and additional freebies. Right now, our local Lowes (Fayetteville, NC) has a 10% discount for military families. I assume they would still accept the 10% movers coupon, so that would be a legitimate way to save about 20% for us. However, we have to wait until we move to Texas before we buy a new w/d set and that offer probably doesn't exist there. We'll have to see if we can talk them into matching it.

Even the Ebay auction has a note that the coupons are no longer being honored at Home Depot, but because Lowe's has a matching policy, that they are honoring the coupons. My Lowe's has a disclaimer that they will not honor competetor's coupons that are fraudulent or expired. It seems a little risky IMO to pay money for the coupons that may or may not be honored. It's nice that in your case, your Lowe's did accept them. I certainly like to save money like anyone else, but I just don't think it's worth the potential embarrassment and the waste of my money if my Lowe's rejected them. For the LG appliances I just purchased, my savings with my 10% coupon, rebates, and discount for opening a Home Depot credit card equalled about a 20% savings.

Best Buy is having an appliance sale right now. Buy 2 save 10% buy 3 save 15% buy 4 save 20%. If Lowe's would match the sale, then one could get as much as 20% off the price if they are buying 4 or more appliances without any sort of coupon. IF they would price match AND honor a coupon then the savings could be 30%. That's certainly worth asking about.

I understand being worried about embarrassment. I actually called my local Lowe's before I even purchased them, just to be sure they would accept them.

To the person that said it isn't a legitimate way to save money, I don't understand how it isn't. Lowe's has the option to not accept the coupons. It's all at their discretion. If they weren't going to make any money on the sale, they simply wouldn't accept the coupon. Many of the sellers, mine included, offer a full money back guarantee including shipping and handling if they aren't accepted. Besides, if they hadn't accepted the 20% coupon I had, I had the 10% off coupon in my other pocket. Plus, if you sign up for the Lowe's credit card (which I wanted to avoid another credit card) they will usually give you an additional 10% off your first purchase.

To me, it's all about smart shopping. Looking around for the best deal possible to save money. You can see by reading some of the feedback of the sellers that these coupons work more than they don't. If you aren't willing to take the chance, that's up to you. I was, and saved some good money.

Hello all- Boy could I use one of these for a refrigerator purchase! I just checked ebay and there are so many of these listed. How does one week through them to find a seller who will actually send a coupon that will work? Thank you!

The coupons are fraudulent. This has been mentioned more than once in this thread. Because of lowlife activity involving the sale, distribution and use of these, we as consumers will eventually end up paying more for what we buy.

But who cares? It's only illegal if you get caught, right?
