Wax away; it won't hurt anything, will look nice, and improve performance.

YES YES YES If you have the muscle, wax is usually considered the last step of an amazing finish.

Don't believe any of the bull*$&% other say about quick on products that eliminate wax build up - that's an advertising schlock form the 50's-60's and is fully untrue.

Find yourself a good quality floor wax and polish away. It will glow and be more resistant to scrapes and moisture (a little ... wipe up spills quickly to avoid damaging the wax)

Wax is a fine product. The question is whether to apply it over polyurethane, and the answer is no.

Rubbing out a finish is great for guitars but not really practical for floors unless you can afford to hire a professional with the proper equipment and technique.

Someone should have told me before not to apply wax over polyurethane. I have been rubbing out polyurethane on furniture for decades and never had a problem. Now that I know better,I suppose the finish will fall off after 20 years.

I put Quick Shine over the polyurethane on my heart pine floor. Dog and time have made wax on top look dirty. How can I remove the wax???

jocelyn, I know that ammonia is used to remove wax so I did a search to see if it's safe for use on polyurethaned floors... I found this article where they recommend using Windex (ammonia-based).

You're welcome -- but proceed with caution! I'd do a little test patch in an out-of-the way spot first to see how it goes.
