3 different painters = 3 Different methods of re-painting my white kitchen cabinets. I beleive the paint on the cabinets is a latex paint, they were painted more than 5 yrs ago, by the previous owner.

I want a hard, easily washable finish, that looks good. I have a 2yr old and a 4yr old, so I clean the cabinets a lot! I am not married to the idea of going with white, but preferably I would like to. How do people feel about their white cabinets? I find mine always look dirty, but I'm not sure if its just because the white is not super white (kind of yellow-ish) or because they are latex and the stains seem to have set in. So, I am also trying to decide if white is the way to go or maybe a gray.

So far I have had 3 painters to to quote and this is what they said:

Painter 1 : Would use oil paint brushed on. (con: white will yellow overtime, would have to pick another color).

Painter 2: Would brush/spray Benjamin Moore Advance alkyd paint.

Painter 3: Would brush/spray a BM Latex paint then top with 2 coats of water based poly to get a really hard finish.

Has anyone had any of these done and what are you feelings on the outcome?
