This was the first one I found of the luce di luna that is slab cut and not the striped vein cut. For our kitchen, I think it is a better fit. I'm so happy after spending the last month traveling between stone yards.

Congrats! That is a beauty- it looks very much like our White Macabus quartzite. We have a soapstone island and they look fabulous together. What a great feeling to finally find THE perfect stone!

May I ask if this is honed quartzite? I am starting the search that so many of you have been on and gathering facts. Also, do you mind if I ask where you were able to find this slab (I'm in Central IL so just wondering if there are places near me).
Muskokascp: Where did you find your quartzite? Is it honed?

So if you are getting a light granite colored or quartzite GW'ers (I LOVE marble, but nervous about the downside of marble), DO YOU GET HONED? I know when choosing marble it is recommended to get honed, does that go for Granite and Quartzite as well? Thanks for your input! I look to you Kitchen Geeks for help.

This quartzite is polished. I think we will keep it polished although it can be honed. It doesn't scratch, etch, or stain in my tests. :) I think the main advantage for honed (other than the look) is that etching doesn't show as much. This particular quartzite doesn't etch, so I think we will use a polished finish.

I am on the east coast of Canada. My stone is polished and while I did want it honed, my fabricator would not hone it. The polished is lovely and I am fine with it not honed.. Our island is soapstone so that finish is more matte.

michelle16... You can try pmirock.com. Their headquarters and main yard are located in NJ. I got my quartzite from them.
