Just like most animals will drink out of puddles, they love the taste of simple snow because it is straight from the sky and pure (for a few days anyway!) My dogs and cats have always loved licking snow.

My dog has also been licking at the snow ... the plant eating thing makes me think he has an upset stomach ... but that's not a medical opinion .. my dogs eat grass when their stomach is a bit upset.

I agree your dog is not comfy, keep an eye on her, and take her to the vet if you see changes in eating behavior. PS - you might want to go get your pet some kitty grass, this might help her feel better if she can get some grass in there to either help her vomit or help whatever it is pass. My dog appears to be back to normal, I gave her some kale for greens in place of my plants. The snow was not fresh, had been there at least a week and she was licking it all over obsessively, not acting like a puppy like she does when it's new snow, which is why I was a little freaked out. Thanks for the replies.

My dog began constantly wanting to go our and would do nothing but lick the snow. Come to discover our water softener was acting up and our tap water tasted funny. He noticed it long before I did. I gave him bottled water and he drank like crazy.
