Best Light Bulb for Kitchen

Hello there,

I am looking at replacing current bulbs in my kitchen for something more vibrant, brighter, cleaner!

I currently have one semi-flush mount light in the tak area and a drop down chandelier style light in the dining area. Both current have low wattage CFL bulbs but u these are just not cutting it. We are fans of conserving energy, but for kitchen lighting they are poor.

We are looking at buying a set of 'GE Reveal' or 'Philips natural light' bulbs to replace. The max each light takes is 100W, we are thinking of going 75w each.

Opinions are much appreciated! :)

Have you tried the daylight version of the CFL, or CFLs of a larger wattage? Personally, I think the daylight versions are a bit harsh and sterile, but to each his own.

We replaced 75 watt incandescent floods with 50 watt MR16 low voltage halogen. (We had to replace all the dimmers as well). We have the same number of fixtures (these are small bullet track fixtures that replaced large cans) as before but the light is much brighter and cleaner. We like it very much.
