Is Ginger Helpful in Treating a Dog's Motion Sickness

Hi,

My Labrador Retriver has always had problems with motion sickness, but the thing is I do need to drive him from the city to the countryside and then back to the city a few times in the month. I recently read an article that said that ginger has been found to help dogs who share the same fate with mine. Has any of you had any success in treating a dog's motion sickness with ginger treats?

It would be nice to help your dog be more comfortable on the trips. Are you sure it's motion sickness and not nervousness riding in the car?

I think you should ask the vet about this. If it is true that it helps dogs, how much ginger would a cookie really have in it? I guess you could try it.

I use Sailors' Secret ginger capsules for motion sickness, and I think it works. But I'm not a dog. ;-)

Well, yeah, it's hard to say whether he is simply nervous or car sick, but I'll definitely try giving him a few ginger cookies, and see if that helps. If not.. I'll contact a veterinarian as I'm not sure it's okay to give dogs Sailors' Secret ginger capsules.

Yes, it's wise to check with the vet before giving anything. Usually they will help you with a bit of info over the phone if you are a regular client.
